Professor Wurzel's Disc Notes:

Perhaps the most well known of all Wurzel songs this single was the first released by the band after Adge Cutler's untimely death two years previously. Its success was somewhat unexpected initially but once Radio Ones's DJ Noel Edmonds latched onto it then the success was guaranteed! The song hit the charts on May 15th 1976 and shot up to number 14 the following week. It soon rocketed up to number 3 following a slot on the TV programme ‘Top of The Pops'. Within a couple of weeks it reached number 1 on 12th June 1976 – a momentous day in the band's history!!! With a two week stint in the top spot the single sold nearly 400,000 copies. Both sides of the single were lifted straight from the band's current 'live' album at the time ‘Combine Harvester'.
