Professor Wurzel's Disc Notes:
The
Wurzel's follow-up single to their number 1 hit was a great
success. Although it didn't reach the top spot in the charts
it remains one of those songs with which they will always
be associated. It did not appear on an album until the following
year with the release of the ‘Golden Delicious' LP . Legend
has it that Pete Budd came up with the " When the moon
shines on the cowshed " lyrics when the Wurzels were
being played the tune of ‘Una Paloma Blanca' – and the new
single was born. When released in September of 1976 it reached
number 3 in the charts with several 'Top of The Pops' appearances
along the way. It eventually sold 250,000 copies and was
awarded a silver disc. The ‘b' side is a lively little sing-along
number which only reappeared again in later years on compilation
albums.
